Rediscovered Treasures

Over the years, my Nana and Grandad spoiled me with gifts. Every time they went on one of their spectacular trips they would bring my sister and I something back. Each Christmas they bought us an ornament and dated it on the bottom with their names. Occasionally they would give me a gift that was probably more expensive than I realized but at the time wasn't something I appreciated. It either wasn't a current trend or seemed to old for me to wear/carry around. Included in these gifts was a necklace. A gold chain with a single leaf attached. On the leaf were hints of pink and green. When I received this necklace I think I remember saying to myself "since when do I wear gold leaf necklaces and when am I going to wear this?" Little did I know that I would hold onto this necklace and wear it years down the road. The single leaf shimmers against my skin. It isn't too heavy or clanky. It is light and dainty. Every time I wear it I think of my grandparents, especially my Nana who passed during my freshman year of college. I wonder if at the time that they bought it they thought "well she might not wear this now but years from now she will see how beautiful and special it really is". This necklace is only one of many rediscovered treasures I received from my grandparents. I really am so thankful and blessed for their generosity.

Fire to the Rain

Oh, Hey blog! Seems as though we only spend time together during long breaks. I'm sorry for depriving you of my words.

This semester has been quite eventful with student teaching. I have really grown to love the kids in my class, my cooperating teacher, and the other student teachers in the building. It has been exhausting, exciting, and sometimes frustrating. This past Friday we had a Career Awareness Day and all of the kids dressed up as what they wanted to be when they grew up. I had a pop star, zoologist, veteranarian, game designer, nurse, professor, writer, engineer, reporter and chocolatier in my classroom. They were so cute in all of their outfits!

Joel and I ventured to Houston this weekend and started off the afternoon with a dog chase shortly follwed by another dog chase. This morning I tried to go on a run but unfortunately it started pouring down rain before I even made it around the block once. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

I have also wanted to spend more time looking at others blogs. I haven't done very well with this other than bookmarking a few favorite blogs. Today I took a bit of time to look through a few of them and found these wedding pictures that I really like.

This is such a cool idea for a save the date!

Also love this girl's hair. Wonder if mine would be able to hold this style one day.

Lastly, this is my new favorite song from Adele's new cd called "Set Fire to the Rain".
